“Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground”
Genesis 1:28 (NLT)
To bless is to empower for a successful outcome, or to cause one to prosper. Blessing is an invocation of something spiritual and supernatural. God has (past tense) blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). The pronouncement of blessings activates the power of God for the blessings to work in and for you. When God blessed man, He invoked His power to enable man to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and govern it, and to reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.
For the blessing to work, it must be voice-activated through speaking, and the recipient must be aware and walk consciously of the blessed life. Blessings are released through words into your life, to empower and guide your life in the paths that God has preordained for you to achieve greater results. God chose Abraham and blessed him and said his seed shall be blessed and all the families of the earth shall be blessed because of him. Abraham pronounced the blessings on Isaac. Isaac passed it on to Jacob and Jacob passed it on to his twelve sons.
Galatians 3:29 says, “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (NIV). You received the same blessing as a new creation. 1 Peter 3:9 says, “Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing” (emphasis added). You cannot give what you do not have, but the Word says you have inherited blessings, and you are to render blessings. Be blessing-conscious, always speaking and manifesting blessings.
